POLIMI GSoM’s support for the non-profit world continues with Leave Your Mark

Leave your mark - POLIMI GSoM

In the period between June and December 2023, the third edition of the Leave Your Mark initiative was held, organised by POLIMI Graduate School of Management in collaboration with the Gianluca Spina Association.

As in the previous two editions, the objective is to enable managers, professionals and young talents trained at POLIMI Graduate School of Management to offer their skills free of charge to non-profit institutions committed to building a more inclusive society and a better future for all. This initiative is an opportunity for personal and professional growth for participants, as well as a way to give back to the community some of what they have received during their learning journey.

It is an initiative that combines our business school’s purpose, to shape a better future for all, with the desire to contribute to a more sustainable future, as well as to further a positive impact on society and collaboration with institutions that can benefit from the experience and knowledge of our alumni and our Faculty.

In the first three editions, over 50 alumni and 15 faculty members supported 21 non-profits active at a local and international level, in business model and development, app development, marketing analysis, fundraising and crowdfunding strategies, and volunteer management. In 2023 alone, six organisations were supported by 20 alumni and alumnae (Alessandro Boieri, Andrea Risatti, Angela CEA, Chiara Borneman, Chiara Rossetti, Daniela Tonoli, Doris Graceni, Gianluca Fusar Poli, Jamilya Nurgazina, Laura Rosati, Luca Coppadoro, Luigi Spina, Massimiliano Benci, Merry Le, Paolo Maresca, Roberto Camagni, Roberto Raglione, Rui Silva, Selvaggia Fagioli and Silvia Monza), together with five academic tutors (lecturers at the School: Andrea Sianesi, Enrico Bellazzecca, Francesca Romana Vender, Francesco Gerli and Franco Ferrario).

Organisations supported

Cascina Biblioteca – Cascina Biblioteca is a non-profit social solidarity cooperative that deals with issues such as disability, autism, social proximity, social reception, work placements and inclusion, social agriculture, beekeeping, children's activities and inclusive leisure time. The team of alumni involved supported the cooperative in modelling a social proximity project to be proposed to new contexts and external bodies.

Adecco ETS Foundation – This operational and non-disbursing enterprise foundation was established in 2001 with the aim of making the world of work more inclusive. To achieve this, it is committed to enhancing the talent of vulnerable people and those at risk of exclusion, building work support paths, and supporting companies in their process of enhancing D&I. The team of alumni involved supported the Foundation in its corporate communication plan.

Fondazione Corti – Lacor Hospital – The Foundation was founded in 1993 with the aim of supporting and financing the activities of Lacor Hospital in Uganda, the largest non-profit hospital in the country, which treats over 200,000 patients each year in one of the poorest areas of the country which has regained peace after decades of fierce conflict. The team of alumni involved supported the Foundation in social impact analysis and fundraising.

Human Age Institute ManPowerGroup Foundation – The Foundation aims to promote social sustainability by undertaking projects that focus on people in situations of socio-economic fragility and work to build employability and learnability of people in personal or social situations of fragility and disadvantage, who encounter greater difficulties in accessing the world of work. The team of alumni involved supported the Foundation in the area of setting ESG goals.

Liberi Dentro – Starting from a set of initiatives related to team-coaching activities for the “Young adults” section of San Vittore prison in Milan, with the support of the Leave Your Mark alumni team, this body − which reintegrates former detainees into the world of work − has grown from a passion project into a strong non-profit organisation.

Opera Pia Sant’Elena – A private school located in Villafranca d’Asti (a municipality of 3,200 inhabitants), registered as a non-profit foundation that deals with education (nursery, kindergarten and after-school care for primary and secondary schools).
