Creative Minds @ POLIMI GSoM: Jazz on Campus

At a time when all music seems just a click away, there is a powerful return of the appeal of authentic experiences: one that arises from a direct encounter with artists capable of transforming an evening into an emotional journey through soul jazz, blues and the great classics of the American tradition.
On Friday 17 April, at 6.00 pm, as part of the Creative Minds @ POLIMI GSoM series, the School will host the “Jazz on Campus” event in the De Carli hall at Politecnico di Milano (Via Durando 10, Milan). For the occasion, Jumaane Smith, the internationally renowned trumpet player and singer, winner of five Grammy Awards and long-time collaborator of Michael Bublé, will return to Italy, accompanied by Carmen Intorre Jr, a leading drummer on the American jazz scene. Completing this exceptional quartet are Alessandro Florio on guitar and Alberto Gurrisi on Hammond organ, two of Italy’s most famous musicians and key figures in numerous international projects.
The concert repertoire will feature Jumaane Smith’s most recent recordings, alongside a selection of Broadway classics reinterpreted in a soul-jazz style, with intense blues nuances.
