Digital Transformation for Strategic Renewal

Build and scale through AI, Platforms and Ecosystem Innovation

Digital Transformation for Strategic Renewal - POLIMI GSoM

Overview

Digital Transformation is no longer just a technological upgrade—it represents a fundamental redefinition of strategy, structure, and leadership. As industries converge and data becomes a key resource, organizations must learn to design strategies that integrate digital technologies, harness platforms and ecosystems, and foster innovation across boundaries.

Digital Transformation for Strategic Renewal is designed to support executives, entrepreneurs and senior professionals in refraiming their strategic foundations to thrive in an increasingly digital economy. Professionals will gain the skills to design Data-driven Business Models, orchestrate Digital Ecosystems, and align transformation initiatives with long-term strategic goals. By the end of the programme, they will be able to assess their organisations digital maturity, identify new sources of value, and shape effective transformation pathways.

Combining conceptual frameworks with practical learning, the course features real-world classes from leading companies such as Siemens Healthineers, John Deere, Ping An, and Amazon. Delivered in an On-Campus format in Milan, it offers a unique opportunity to experience Italian culture first-hand.

Participants travelling from abroad to attend the three in‑person days are asked to contact executive@gsom.polimi.it before booking flights or accommodation, so that we can align on the programme’s confirmation, which depends on reaching the minimum number of participants

Meet your faculty

For Digital Transformation for Strategic Renewal at POLIMI Graduate School of Management, you'll be learning from Prof. Wim Vanhaverbeke — a globally recognized authority on digital strategy, open innovation, and AI-driven transformation. Wim is Professor Em. of Digital Strategy and Innovation Management at the University of Antwerp, Co-Editor-in-Chief of Technovation, and holds visiting professorships at ESADE, Zhejiang University, and Politecnico di Milano. His current research pushes to the frontier of how agentic AI is reshaping open innovation — from governance capability as a binding constraint on adoption, to the "dual trust problem" organizations face when algorithms and partners must both be trusted. This translates directly into the classroom: frameworks for digital ecosystem orchestration, platform strategy, and AI governance that executives can apply immediately. Wim has also successfully run this executive course before, refining it with senior leaders across industries. Now, from October 2026, he brings it to Milan for 3 intensive days, an immersive experience paired with real-world cases from legacy companies, digital native start-ups, and less-well known but highly interesting B2B ecosystem cases.
