Master in Global Luxury Goods and Services Management

Are you looking to shoot for the stars and become an expert manager in the global luxury industry? Our Master in Global Luxury Goods and Services Management (MGLuxM) will help you on your way.

This 12-month postgraduate programme was developed by SP Jain School of Global Management and POLIMI GSoM to give you a holistic understanding of developed luxury markets like what we can find in Europe. We also help you to understand marketing, sales and retail concepts in rapidly emerging markets like India

Through our industry-centric programme and real-life projects, which you’ll do both in Mumbai and Milan, you will get in-depth knowledge about the entire gamut of the luxury industry in very distinctive markets.

The world is your oyster with this truly global Master. In both Mumbai and Milan, you get the chance to meet industry experts and leaders, do live projects, and visit brand stores to understand first-hand just how the sector works. You will also get to visit some of the famous luxury capitals of the world like France, Switzerland and Italy.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

Once you finish this 12-month programme, you will be awarded a “Certificate of Completion” from SP Jain School of Global Management and an internationally recognised “Master in Global Luxury Goods and Services Management” degree from us at POLIMI GSoM, Milan.

TERM 1: MUMBAI (6 MONTHS)

The first part of our programme is held in Mumbai and will introduce you to the world of Global Luxury Management. Interactions and networking sessions with experts from the luxury industry will help you to:

Understand Indian luxury consumers, products & services, as well as the marketing, financial and operational aspects of the domestic luxury industry
Understand Indian markets from a multicultural perspective
Understand idiosyncrasies of the luxury sector in emerging markets

TERM 2: MILAN (4 MONTHS)

In your second term you will stay in Milan, diving deep into the value creation process of luxury management. We take you from brand creation and innovation to operations, distribution, retailing and service quality. In this part of the programme, you will:

Turn design into luxury products and collections
Turn superior craftsmanship into operations excellence
Create luxury experiences through communication and retail
Get exposed to the luxury industry in Milan and neighbouring European luxury capitals

TERM 3: PROJECT WORK (2 MONTHS)

Put theory into practice with your own project work! You’ll do this in the final term of the programme, either in India or Milan, and you can design the project in a ton of different ways. It could be a report from an optional internship, an essay describing a business plan for a luxury start-up, market analysis or some desk research on a specific topic or industry. In this term, you need to:

Create a plan for a new luxury brand or business (this is perfect for those of you that want to start your own luxury business or convert your existing business to a luxury business)
Carry out research in an area of international luxury management
Pursue an internship with a luxury brand

INDUSTRY VISITS

But that’s not all. In the four months that you’ll spend in Milan, you will also have trips to neighbouring European countries like Germany, Switzerland, and France to explore their local luxury brands, meet market analysts and interact with heads of prestigious local firms. Our programme includes dedicated study tours to companies and businesses in these world-renowned markets:

Wine Region – Champagne
The Leather Markets – Florence
Popular Watch Brands – Neuchatel
Luxury Auto Businesses – Stuttgart and Munich

The programme costs €16.000. These costs cover the entire length of our programme, but they do not include living and travel expenses. A reduced fee of €13,000 is available for students who have graduated from Politecnico di Milano with a Master of Science degree, no more than 3 years before enrolling in the Master. 

We at POLIMI GSoM have partnered with Flywire to accept payments from international students worldwide. 

Applicants for the Specialising Masters can apply for fee reductions. These are given out on a first-come, first-served basis, so it’s a good idea to apply early. If you’d like financial aid, you need to request it when you submit your application form – please note that late requests for financial aid won’t be considered. 

Please note that we don’t offer full scholarships, and that the DSU and other scholarships offered by Politecnico di Milano and the Italian Government cannot be used for POLIMI GSoM’s programmes.
