Overview

Are you looking to shoot for the stars and become an expert manager in the global luxury industry? Our Master in Global Luxury Goods and Services Management (MGLuxM) will help you on your way.

This 12-month postgraduate programme was developed by SP Jain School of Global Management and POLIMI GSoM to give you a holistic understanding of developed luxury markets like what we can find in Europe. We also help you to understand marketing, sales and retail concepts in rapidly emerging markets like India.

Through our industry-centric programme and real-life projects, which you’ll do both in Mumbai and Milan, you will get in-depth knowledge about the entire gamut of the luxury industry in very distinctive markets.

In partnership with SP Jain, School of Global Management:

  • 12-month full-time programme which lets you study in Mumbai and Milan
  • Study tours in companies in some of Europe’s top luxury centres, including Leather, Automotive, Fashion, Winery, Art and Hospitality Industry in Italy, Timekeeping Instruments in Switzerland, Perfumery, Winery (Champagne) and Jewellery in France
  • Designed for students and professionals with 2 to 3 years work experience who want to boost their knowledge in the luxury goods and services sector and shift to managerial roles in international luxury management

The world is your oyster with this truly global Master. In both Mumbai and Milan, you get the chance to meet industry experts and leaders, do live projects, and visit brand stores to understand first-hand just how the sector works. You will also get to visit some of the famous luxury capitals of the world like France, Switzerland and Italy.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

Once you finish this 12-month programme, you will be awarded a “Certificate of Completion” from SP Jain School of Global Management and an internationally recognised “Master in Global Luxury Goods and Services Management” degree from us at POLIMI GSoM, Milan.

TERM 1: MUMBAI (6 MONTHS)

The first part of our programme is held in Mumbai and will introduce you to the world of Global Luxury Management. Interactions and networking sessions with experts from the luxury industry will help you to:

Understand Indian luxury consumers, products & services, as well as the marketing, financial and operational aspects of the domestic luxury industry
Understand Indian markets from a multicultural perspective
Understand idiosyncrasies of the luxury sector in emerging markets

TERM 2: MILAN (4 MONTHS)

In your second term you will stay in Milan, diving deep into the value creation process of luxury management. We take you from brand creation and innovation to operations, distribution, retailing and service quality. In this part of the programme, you will:

Turn design into luxury products and collections
Turn superior craftsmanship into operations excellence
Create luxury experiences through communication and retail
Get exposed to the luxury industry in Milan and neighbouring European luxury capitals

TERM 3: PROJECT WORK (2 MONTHS)

Put theory into practice with your own project work! You’ll do this in the final term of the programme, either in India or Milan, and you can design the project in a ton of different ways. It could be a report from an optional internship, an essay describing a business plan for a luxury start-up, market analysis or some desk research on a specific topic or industry. In this term, you need to:

Create a plan for a new luxury brand or business (this is perfect for those of you that want to start your own luxury business or convert your existing business to a luxury business)
Carry out research in an area of international luxury management
Pursue an internship with a luxury brand

INDUSTRY VISITS

But that’s not all. In the four months that you’ll spend in Milan, you will also have trips to neighbouring European countries like Germany, Switzerland, and France to explore their local luxury brands, meet market analysts and interact with heads of prestigious local firms. Our programme includes dedicated study tours to companies and businesses in these world-renowned markets:

Popular Watch Brands – Neuchatel
Luxury Auto Businesses – Stuttgart and Munich

Once you successfully complete this MASTER IN GLOBAL LUXURY GOODS AND SERVICES MANAGEMENT (MGLuxM) programme, you will have huge opportunities in the luxury and premium sectors both in India and abroad. Our Master in Global Luxury Goods and Services Management (MGLuxM) programme might just be the thing you’re looking for, if you’re a:

Young graduate with at least a 3-year Bachelor degree from a recognised university in India or abroad
Student with an aptitude and appetite to work in the luxury space
Please note that  we teach this programme in English. So you really do need to have decent proficiency in the language, and good written and spoken communication skills are essential.

You must need to be able to show leadership and managerial skills, and be willing to meet the demands of a rigorous Master degree.

Application screening:

Our Admission Committee will shortlist everyone based on a range of criteria, like past academic performance, work experience (if you have any), and any other information you want to send to us. Usually it takes us up to 5 working days to do this.

Interview and evaluation:

  • If you are shortlisted, we’ll call you for further evaluation. Please note that you’ll need to pay the €100 Evaluation Fee before your evaluation
  • In this evaluation process you will have a written and personal interview
  • Then you’ll go through a verification process with us at POLIMI GSoM, if you are selected for admission to the programme
  • Once you are successfully verified, we’ll make you an offer within 10 working days
  • You will need to confirm your acceptance within 2 weeks of receiving our offer, by paying the Registration Fee
