POLIMI GSoM 1st in Italy in LinkedIn’s ranking of Top Full-Time MBA Programs

The Politecnico di Milano Business School’s New Generation MBA, unique in the world for its focus on purpose, ranks 15th in Europe and 53rd worldwide

POLIMI GSoM has achieved another extraordinary recognition, the result of direct, empirical feedback: its New Generation MBA is among the top Full-Time MBA programmes according to LinkedIn. The educational course has reached the 53rd position in the special ranking drawn up by the social network of reference for professionals and companies, positioning itself in 1st place in Italy and 15th in Europe.

Why did LinkedIn create its own special ranking?

LinkedIn's special ranking is based on the career achievements of millions of MBA alumni worldwide who subscribe to the social network. The aim of drawing up this special classification is to help professionals and graduates improve their career path.

The ranking is in its second year, but in 2023, when it was still experimental, it was aimed only at the US public. In 2024, however, LinkedIn expanded the ranking to all the countries within its network.

It is also important to note that the data on which its survey is based are incontrovertible because they are the result of what has been reported by the social network subscribers themselves, offering an immediate and direct cross-section of the results that the participants in the different MBAs around the world have obtained.

How does LinkedIn's ranking come about?

As a global network, LinkedIn can tap into the professional achievements of its members around the world. Its evaluation of top MBA programmes is based on five determining factors:

  • Hiring and demand, which looks at job placement rates and demand in the labour market. Cohorts of graduates between 2019 and 2023 who then found work were taken into account for this factor.
  • Ability to advance, which records the promotions obtained and career progression.
  • Network strength, which takes into account the connection between the alumni of the same MBA.
  • Leadership, which assesses the percentage of MBA alumni who have become entrepreneurs or reached top-level positions in their companies (C-suites).
  • Diversity, which measures gender equality within the programmes.

An exclusive classification

“Being recognised among the best MBA programmes in the world is a further confirmation of the quality of POLIMI Graduate School of Management's portfolio and underlines the importance of an education that not only responds to the needs of today's market, but also anticipates future challenges and prepares tomorrow's leaders”, said Federico Frattini, Dean of POLIMI Graduate School of Management.

It is also important to emphasise that not all MBA programmes are eligible to participate in this ranking. In fact, it is necessary to be AACSB or Equis accredited, they must be Full-Time MBAs and already have registered at least 1,500 alumni, 400 of whom fall within the time frame under examination (2019-2023). Please note that the ranking is published by LinkedIn, offering international feedback, in several languages: from English to French, German to Spanish, not forgetting Turkish and Indonesian.
