Our new Strategic Plan 2024-2026

Making a difference and helping to build a better society through management training is the commitment that our School wants to make and that which inspires our new strategic plan. We strongly believe that education is an extraordinary tool for changing the world, and for this reason we are committed to building a more equitable, inclusive and sustainable future with a strong desire to generate a positive impact for our students, for the companies we work with, and for our entire community. This is the inspiration for our new Strategic Plan 2024-2026, which will guide our actions in the coming years. We have called it the Positive Impact Through Education Plan, or PIE PLAN: an ambitious project that sees management training as the main tool for generating positive change.

The PIE PLAN is based on our conviction that education, particularly management training, is a key lever for tackling and resolving major global challenges. In this sense, the plan aims to develop skills and sensibilities that enable all our students to become agents of positive change for society.

Nelson Mandela repeated that “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.” This is a message that fully expresses our commitment: we want education to become a practical tool for improving the world in which we live. Our PIE PLAN was built as an ambitious project to serve our School’s purpose: "We nurture innovators to shape a better future for all".

The PIE Plan 2024-2026 is divided into three priority areas of action, each with ambitious and concrete objectives, which aim to project our school towards its 50th anniversary in 2029: Educate People; Inspire People; Mobilise Resources.

EDUCATE PEOPLE

The first pillar of our Plan is dedicated to education. We want to ensure that every training programme offered by our School is an opportunity to develop the skills, attitudes and sensibilities of those involved in it on the issues of innovation, purpose, sustainability and impact. We are committed to ensuring that every course we offer represents a real opportunity for participants to become agents of positive change in society.

This commitment applies not only to programmes that focus entirely on issues such as sustainability and impact, which we intend to strengthen and expand, but also to all the other programmes offered by our School, such as the MBAs and Executive MBAs. Our challenge is to integrate these skills and sensibilities into each of our courses, regardless of their specific content. To achieve these ambitious goals, we aim to expand our educational portfolio and attract an ever-increasing number of students who share our commitment to making a positive impact.

OBJECTIVES

BY 2029

By 2029, we want to train over 50,000 students on the topics of innovation for sustainability and impact.

BY 2026

By 2026, our target is to train at least 15,000 people.

INSPIRE PEOPLE

We are aware that our School is not just a place where our students are educated, but a vast community of individuals, professionals and managers who have studied with us or are in contact with the School through the many initiatives that we undertake. This community has over 30.000 members, including alumni, partner companies and students. Our responsibility is not limited to training alone, but is expressed in our commitment to inspire, raise awareness and develop mindfulness in our people in relation to the positive impact that their daily work and career choices can have on society. We want to accompany our community on this journey of increased awareness by delivering meaningful experiences that open their eyes to the role that each individual can play in transforming society in a more inclusive, equitable and sustainable direction.

We believe it is our duty to make it clear to anyone who comes into contact with our School that they can play a crucial role in promoting and activating the change that the world needs, a change in which businesses and public administrations must be protagonists. For this reason, we are committed to disseminating these ideas through multiple initiatives such as the annual Purpose Day event, the INNOVA Europe challenge or the Knowledge 4 Positive Impact editorial hub. These and other initiatives are designed to touch first the hearts and then the minds of professionals and managers, stimulating a deep awareness of the contribution that each one of us can make to activate a process of improvement in our society.

By 2026, we aim to inspire 1.5 million people.

MOBILIZE RESOURCES

The third pillar of the PIE plan is based on a realisation: our community has an extraordinary amount of resources, skills, energy and experience which can directly contribute to building a more equal and sustainable society. This includes the experience of our lecturers, the skills of our students and alumni and the resources of our partners.

We take responsibility for activating these resources and directing them towards generating a positive impact. We do this through the expansion of projects such as Leave Your Mark, in which managers, professionals and young talents who have studied at our School, together with our lecturers, make their skills available – pro bono – to support third-sector entities in making a positive contribution to society and the environment. Similarly, we want to offer free training programmes to these organisations to further develop their ability to make a positive impact on society. In addition, we want to increase our ability to raise funds for scholarships to support talented students living in difficult circumstances, so that they can access our educational programmes or those of other schools.

Reducing our Carbon Footprint as the School Expands

We realise that to achieve these goals we need to grow, both in terms of attracting new students and by increasing the number of projects we carry out with our partner companies. We want to expand our community - always guided by our values, but with a responsible and sustainable approach.

One of the main challenges in this respect is to ensure that this growth does not lead to an increase in the negative externalities it produces for the environment. For this reason, the PIE Plan includes a series of practical initiatives to decouple our environmental impact from the growth of the School.

Recently, the Conscious Training project was launched, which aims to cancel the emissions produced by the training we do for companies. Since this area of our activity has reached significant numbers in the last year (about 20 thousand students were trained in over 160 client companies through 250 training programmes), the School has developed a model to quantify the emissions of the training courses dedicated to companies to be used as a basis for agreeing mitigation actions with its customers and offsetting residual emissions through the Envira Amazonia project of Green Future Project, the climate tech B Corp active in the regeneration and conservation of natural reserves in the world.

The School already offsets the emissions related to energy consumption at its locations in Milan Bovisa and Milan Navigli and, from 2024, it will also calculate the CO2 consumption generated by staff travel and its supply chain.

Constant updates and transparency

The results achieved through the PIE PLAN will be constantly monitored and updated to ensure a clear and transparent vision of the impact we are having, year after year. Because this plan is not just a guide for our daily work - rather, it represents a long-term commitment to making management training a driving force for innovation and positive change in society and the world.
