At the conclusion of your MBA journey, how do you want to have a positive impact on the organisation you work for?
Leaving my stable career in Japan to pursue an MBA in Italy was a significant challenge, but it granted me a crucial mindset: the courage to step out of my comfort zone and embrace change for continuous improvement. Within my organization, I aspire to serve as a 'catalyst that connects diversity to positive results.' My experience has shown that when working with diverse members, 'common sense' is never a given. By leveraging the logical approach and cross-cultural adaptability I honed at POLIMI GSoM, I aim to facilitate constructive dialogue among stakeholders with differing perspectives. My goal is to drive collaborative problem-solving that generates high added value, moving beyond mere operational efficiency to deliver truly innovative outcomes.
What are the main tools you have acquired during the MBA that have helped you become a purposeful leader?
I have acquired two essential tools that are fundamental to my growth as a purposeful leader.
First is the logical thinking required to build consensus. Engaging in discussions within multinational teams—where backgrounds, languages, and cultural norms vary—taught me that aligning a team requires more than just an opinion; it demands a clear, robust logic that respects others' perspectives while minimizing misunderstanding.
Second is a strategic perspective to maximize value proposition. Through a broad curriculum spanning finance, marketing, innovation, and design thinking, I have learned to look beyond superficial issues. I am now equipped to approach challenges by asking the fundamental question: 'What essential value should I (and my organization) deliver to the client?' These tools empower me to lead both teams and clients with confidence and a clear sense of purpose, even in complex international business environments.
